Evaluation of Stridor - UPDATED

This podcast will give you an updated approach to the evaluation of stridor. In this episode, listeners will 1) define stridor and the pathophysiology causing stridor, 2) create a differential diagnosis based on a patient’s presenting signs and symptoms, 3) differentiate benign causes of stridor from those that are life-threatening, 4) describe common pathogens involved in infectious etiologies of stridor, and 5) outline a basic management plan for a patient with stridor based on the differential diagnoses and investigative findings.

This episode was developed by Dr. Rafiaa Valji, a pediatric respirologist at the University of Manitoba, in collaboration with Dr. Tamizan Kherani, a pediatric respirologist at the University of Alberta.


Diagnosis and Chronic Management of Asthma in Children

In this podcast, the listener will learn the definition and clinical presentation of asthma, the criteria for the diagnosis of asthma in preschoolers and in children older than six, and the initial and ongoing management of asthma in children. It was created by Dr. Gauri Shah, a pediatrician who completed a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Alberta, with close support from Dr. Joan Robinson, a pediatric infectious diseases specialist at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton, Canada.
