Here we will be covering the new CPS Position Statement “Early Detection for Autism Spectrum Disorder in Young Children.” This podcast was developed by Dr. Nehal Shata, a Pediatric Resident at Montreal Children’s Hospital in Montreal, Quebec with Dr. Lonnie Zwaigenbaum, the lead author of this statement, as well as a Pediatric Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta.


Trisomy 18

This podcast reviews the physical characteristics and potential medical concerns associated with a baby or child with Trisomy 18, discusses the diagnostic process, prognosis and how develop a family-centered management plan for a newborn diagnosed with Trisomy 18. This podcast was developed by Graeme Rinholm, a 4th year medical student from the University of Alberta and Dr Melanie Lewis, a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta.


Developmental Regression

This podcast will give an approach to developmental regression, including history, physical exam, differential diagnosis and investigations. It was developed by Annie Poon, a 3rd year medical student at the University of Alberta, and Dr. Lyn Sonnenberg, a neurodevelopmental pediatrician at the University of Alberta.


Fragile X Syndrome

This case explores the approach to a child with intellectual disability, focusing specifically on Fragile X syndrome. It was developed by Jose Lopez-Vera, a fourth-year medical student at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine (WMed) in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, and Dr. Neelkamal Soares, a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician and Professor of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine at WMed.

This podcast was created by Dr. Meghan Pike, a second year Paediatrics resident at the IWK Health Centre at Dalhousie University in Halifax, under the guidance of Dr. Stacey Belanger, a Child Development Specialist at the University of Montreal and Dr. Joannie Caron, a general paediatrician who completed a fellowship in Developmental Paediatrics at the University of Montreal.
