This podcast presents an approach to the advocacy for and assessment of literacy in school-aged children. After listening to this episode, listeners will be able to (1) define literacy and identify why screening for early childhood literacy is important, (2) identify ways pediatric care providers can screen for literacy, and (3) describe ways in which pediatricians can advocate for literacy development in children. This podcast was created by Doris Goubran, a 3rd year medical student from the University of Manitoba, in collaboration with Dr. Kawamura and Dr. Orsino, Developmental Pediatricians from Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, as well as Dr. Mitchell, a General Pediatrician at the Stollery Children's Hospital.
