Spina Bifida

In this podcast, the listener will learn to differentiate various types of neural tube defects, to discuss the etiology and risk factors of spina bifida, and to describe the fundamentals of the workup and management of spina bifida.  The podcast was created by Quin Pon and Brianna Salverda, both medical students at the University of Alberta, with support from Dr. Cynthia Gunaratnam, a general pediatrician at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.

This podcast presents an introduction to newborn circumcision. In it, the listener will learn some of the pros and cons of circumcision, the indications and contraindications of circumcision, the financial implications and timeline of circumcision, and a suggested approach to counseling parents on the care of their child’s uncircumcised penis. This podcast was developed by Thomas Kellner, a third-year medical student at the University of Alberta, in collaboration with Dr. Darcie Kiddoo, a pediatric urologist at the University of Alberta.


Cryptorchidism

This podcast reviews the management of cryptorchidism, including epidemiology and risk factors, questions for history and physical exam, and principles of management. It was created by Paige Murphy, a medical student at the University of British Columbia with the help of Dr. Kirsten Miller, a pediatrician at the University Hospital of Northern B.C.


Approach to Enuresis

This podcast presents an approach to the investigation and management of enuresis in children. This podcast was written by Tasha Stoltz with the help of Dr. Melanie Lewis. Tasha is a medical student at McMaster University, and Dr. Lewis is a General Pediatrician and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Stollery Children's Hospital and University of Alberta.
