Evaluation of a Heart Murmur

This podcast addresses the evaluation of heart murmurs in children. The clinical features that distinguish an innocent murmur from a pathologic murmur are discussed. Common innocent and pathologic murmurs are addressed and audio examples are provided. Lastly, some suggestions are offered for explaining innocent murmurs to parents. This podcast was written by Dr. Andrew Mackie, a pediatric cardiologist at the Stollery Children's Hospital. Dr. Mackie is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Public Health Sciences at the University of Alberta.
